📋 Overview
Follow the Sun is an Android app developed by AppFellows that helps you find the best weather in Europe for last-minute trips. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
📍 Location Data
Follow the Sun requests access to your device's location for the following purposes:
- Calculating the distance from your current location to weather destinations
- Calculating driving time via the optional OpenRouteService integration
Your location is used only on your device in real time. It is never stored, transmitted to our servers, or shared with third parties by AppFellows. Location access is optional — the app works without it, but distance calculations will not be available.
🌤 Weather Data
Weather forecasts and historical climate data are retrieved from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a free and open-source weather API. When the app fetches weather data, your device sends the geographic coordinates of European destinations to the Open-Meteo API. Your personal location is not sent to Open-Meteo.

🗺 Maps
The app uses MapLibre with OpenStreetMap map tiles to display the interactive map. When you view the map, your device may connect to tile servers to load map imagery. No personal data is transmitted beyond what is standard for loading map tiles.
🚗 Routing (Optional)
If you choose to enter an OpenRouteService API key in Settings, the app will use that key to request driving directions. In that case, your current location and the destination coordinates are sent to OpenRouteService servers. This feature is entirely optional and disabled by default.

💾 Local Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Your OpenRouteService API key (if entered), stored in the app's private SharedPreferences
- App settings and slider preferences
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the app.
📊 Analytics & Advertising
Follow the Sun does not use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, or advertising networks. We do not track your usage of the app in any way.
👶 Children's Privacy
Follow the Sun does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The app contains no content unsuitable for children.
🔄 Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
